October Ironman 70.3 Fundraiser Launched

Mike Gingerich, founder of iGive Global, has launched a new fundraising effort, the Ironman 70.3 Fundraiser Triathlone for a Cause, in connection with his participation in the October Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Wilmington, North Carolina. iGive Global’s mission centers around empowering women, children, and refugees worldwide by providing support to empower them to rise to their full potential.

$3070.30 for 3 Orphanages

For this multi-sport endurance challenge, Mike has set a fundraising goal of $3,070.30 to benefit three orphanages with which iGive Global works – two in Ecuador and one in Belize. The two orphanages in Quito, Ecuador – San Vicente de Paul and Santa Lucia – support approximately 60 and 30 children respectively. iGive Global’s contributions to these orphanages are coordinated through their partner organization, Orphanage Support Services. Previously, Mike has raised funds running a marathon in Iraq you can read about here.

The third beneficiary of this fundraiser will be Hope Haven Belize, a children’s home and community center on Ambergris Caye, Belize. Hope Haven provides for the basic needs of food, shelter and counseling for poor, neglected and at-risk children on the island, as well as educational and developmental programs. Mike recently had the opportunity to visit Hope Haven firsthand and witness their meaningful work empowering children in the community.

70.3 Miles For the Cause

To raise funds for these worthy causes, Mike will be competing in his longest triathlon to date – an Ironman 70.3, consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run, totaling 70.3 miles of multi-sport competition. Completing such a grueling endurance race will undoubtedly present both physical and mental challenges for Mike. However, he is dedicated to crossing the finish line on October 21st, fueled by his goal of delivering $3,070.30 total to the three orphanages through this fundraising effort.

Mike invites supporters to donate towards helping him achieve this goal while empowering children through the work of iGive Global’s partner organizations. Every dollar raised will make a tangible difference for orphaned and at-risk youths gaining access to necessities, counseling, and educational programs to maximize their potential. His training for the 70.3 race is already being propelled by the opportunity to positively impact lives through this fundraiser.

For those wishing to get involved, simply donating through the GoFundMe page is an impactful way to help these children have a better future.

Update on the Challenge

On October, 21, 2023 Mike competed in and completed the Ironman 70.3 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Mike reports the day was a tremendous experience, full of challenges but so worth the effort. Stay tuned for more related news as Mike goes to Ecuador in early November to visit both of the Ecuadorian orphanages and spend time getting to know the team and children there a bit better.
